Coming from a dark and troubled past I was attracted to the work of Aubrey Beardsley when I was young. Here are a few of his ink drawings, which I still like for their masterly balance of positive and negative shapes, and light and dark.

I like them. I couldn’t put my finger on why they appeal to me but it is as you say that balance he creates between light and dark.
Interesting drawings. I must admit I’ve never heard of Aubrey Beardsley, so thank you for sharing these.
i just was told of who he was/shown his works, ironically have been reading the works of edgar allan poe…..to which i am astounded by both. it seems there is and can be much truth in the past that is still flowing through us maybe never even thought of or brought to the surface at this time but so significantly valid and here alive now (at least in the mind and for that i am forever grateful)
Is the image titled GayleDC038.jpg a Beardsley?, it isn’t signed.
Whoever did it, I like it.
i was wondering about the gayledc038 image as well. i can not find the title to that image anywhere. and i need to know for a project.
I’m so sorry Dawn, I’ve only just checked in after a hiatus. I really don’t know the answer to your question, and I suspect I’m too late to help in any case.
