I forget how it was that I first came upon the atmospheric paintings of Trevor Chamberlain – possibly I took out a book of his colour plates from the local library, and was enchanted by his painting in his car from a pochade box whenever it was raining, rather than miss an opportunity to paint an evocative scene.
